  • Membership Candidate Process

    Period of Nine Weeks:

    The 2nd Vice President and MC Coordinator will be your guide to prepare you to be an active sister. Eight quizzes will be given during this process. Each candidate must receive an 80% or higher on each quiz. A Membership Candidate (MC) must complete all pledge activities, such as, participating in at least one social, philanthropy, and fundraiser. Candidate may also complete a pledge paddle and a signature book if they desire. MC meetings will be held every week for nine weeks until Activation.

    Attendance:

    Meetings will be held on Mondays at 5:30. Membership Candidates must attend all meetings unless the time conflicts with a school related activity, or there is an extreme emergency. If you have a class during this time, you may not be eligible for activation. 

     

    MCs must notify the 2nd Vice President in writing 24 hours prior to the meeting (an e-mail would be fine!). Note: Sickness is an exception. In the case of an unexcused absence, the membership candidate must pay a fine of $5. A membership candidate is tardy after arriving 10 minutes late to a scheduled meeting or event. In the case of 2 tardies, a candidate will be given an unexcused absence and must pay a $5 fine.

     

    If you will be absent from an event, contact the 2nd Vice President/MC Coordinator - **Attendance will be taken at each meeting and scheduled event**


    Pledge Paddles:

    Please include-- SA letters, Semester, UGA seal, Sister's name (optional), Pledge's name, and anything else you might like.You will be required to obtain the signatures on the back of your paddle from the chapter officers, advisors, and the members of your pledge class. 

    Class Pledge Paddle:

    A Pledge Class Effort! Will be placed in the Sigma Alpha office. Vote on a Committee Chair to head up the design. 

    Visit with the Advisors:

    You should take time throughout the M.C. process to personally meet with each advisor. Each one is here to help you if you ever need anything.

    Social and Philanthropy:

    Plan and carryout a Social and Philanthropy Project as a class. Must be completed before Activation. Vote on Committee Chairs for each to lead the planning of event. 

    Fundraiser:

    Must plan and carry out a fundraiser. Money will go towards buying the class pledge paddle. Vote on a Committee Chair to lead the planning of event.

    Other:

    Attend at least two Chapter Meetings with the active sisters

    Serve on a committee

    Big Sis/Lil Sis Week

    Elect Officers: President, Vice-President, & Secretary

    Elect Committee Chairs: Social, Philanthropy, Fundraising, & Paddle
